Jordan : Seven Sleepers Cave

Seven sleepers cave is based on Ashabul Kahfi (As'hab-e-Kahaf) story. The story was about a young man who was confused seeing the change that happened to the city. The people, the building, and everything that were there. He meant to buy some food for breakfast, for him and 6 other friends. But when he pay, the seller was surprised because the money he gave was no longer valid. It has King Diqyamus's picture in it that means it has already over 300 years ago. Several people gathered around the food stalls and accused him cheated. Some said he was crazy. Some thoughts he knew a place with treasure in it.

The young man became the topic around the stalls. However the young man still confused why the seller do not accept the money he gave and claimed it not used anymore. Because the money was earned by selling his sheep a day before. Right before he take shelter and sleep in a cave with his friends.

The story above is a story about 7 young man and a dog. For saving their iman (on believing in one God), they ran away from King Diqyanus / Decius, Roman Emperor (249 - 251 M) who was famous for his cruelty.

The point that Al Qur'an wants to make through this narrative is to encourage Muslims - who, at that time were being severely oppressed by the leaders of Quraish, - by telling them that when Allah decides to save a people from the persecution of another, then no one can harm them, irrespective of the odds against them.

 Inside the cave
We were visiting the cave in the midday, when the sun is really high. The weather was hot but windy sometimes, and we had to use sunglasses in order to protect our eyes. However, when we entered the cave, the temperature is so different from the outside (it was chilly inside) and if there are no additional lamps, it will also be dark. The place was clean and well maintained. Though the cave was not big, the air is circulation is pretty good, maybe because of its high ceiling, as there were around 20 people inside the cave when we were there (that explain why there are people in my pictures :D ). It was quite hard taking the scenery only while there were many people trying to take pictures of the place and themselves in it as well.
